When asked how she picked the four songs for her eponymous CD, Julie Tan states, "these are four songs that I will never get tired of listening to". For the CD, recorded and mixed in Producer John Hancock's home-studio, Julie enlisted the virtuosity of accomplished LA studio guitarist Mike Fonte and seasoned songstress Susan Lowery. She also convinced Academy Award nominated composer/producer Don Hannah to make his backing vocals debut on the song "Angels Called My Name". "It was such an ego boost to work with musicians that I look up to. Making this CD was so much fun.... minus the incident where John's cat mistook my right arm for lunch meat," Julie says as she raises her arm to reveal a visible scar. "As a writer, I write songs that I hope other people will relate to,? she says. ?And I also only write songs that I can remember how to play," she adds jokingly. "I think of myself as a songwriter who happens to sing. There's nothing more exhilarating than looking out during a performance and seeing other people sing your songs," Check out Julie Tan?s music.
