Synopsis
Product Description Julian Yeo is an international jazz/cabaret vocalist currently residing in NYC. An Australian of Asian descent, Julian was exposed to a wide array of music while growing up. However, he has always been fascinated by singers from the 20s to 50s. Julian's critically acclaimed debut CD album 'Old, New, Borrowed, Blue' is an eclectic mix of new compositions and standards tied together with a common theme - LOVE. The CD is currently being played on numerous domestic and international radio stations. The CD is also on several top 10 charts! Perhaps the title of the CD sums it up, there is certain quality in his voice that sounds like old recordings you hear from a gramophone (OLD); at times, his voice even evokes a certain nostalgia that we hear in singers in the past like Fred Astaire, Dick Haymes and Rudy Vallee (BORROWED). Yet there is something undeniably hip about his renditions that is refreshingly unique (NEW). One thing that is evidently clear from his singing is the manifestation of his love for the songs and the directness in his delivery that are distinctively 'Julian Yeo' (BLUE). |
CD ReviewsFantastic little something different Miles Giles | NYC, USA | 05/28/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is definitely not a generic vocal Jazz CD that one would hear nowadays. The vocal is distintive with a tone that reminds me of the retro crooners - something that I simply love and cannot resist. The music is so charming, the 'so right' combination of old vocal styling and modern musical arrangements make this CD a very captivating listen. What a surprise find!"
