This poem leads children on a journey to Lullaby Island. Fairies greet them at the dock and gently breathe sleep songs into their ears. Sometimes there are nightingales, sometimes owls, but always sweet singing and the kind of instruments you might find on a fairy boat, harp, guitar, recorder. Although I'm a singer and performer, when I got pregnant I panicked that I didn't know any songs. So I researched and remembered and the result was a 20 minute CD recorded in 5 hours. This little CD 'Acoustic Folk for Little Folk' had a life of it's own and many many copies circulated by word of mouth. But it was always too short and the levels were wonky, so this album, Lullaby Island, is my attempt at finishing what I started. I found delicious songs from my childhood in the UK and mixed them up with traditional songs fromother countries, wrote original songs & tunes for very old poems. I only wanted acoustic instruments on my boat and so was lucky to find Randy Clark who is the guitarist and Diana Stork who played a tiny Celtic harp.
