"I always log on to amazon.com. Not just because my album is being sold on the site, but because I am a music lover myself and I've been a valid supporter of the site before this album came about. To the people who wrote the "Not-so-good-reviews" I say thank you. What would life be without criticism?! I can truly accept everyones opinion or comments---but to all the people that will hit this site, know this. Each Artists who has a chance to put their music out there to be heard, is doing nothing more than sharing their soul with you. The only thing that sets "Joya" apart from anyone else, is the journey that GOD had allowed me to travel in life. I have truly been blessed and I have many more hills to climb. I don't ask to be compared to anyone. I am Joya, a strong black woman who emerged from Detroit City. I didn't chose to be a musician or a singer/songwriter at that. My life was on a total different course. Music made it's way to me. So don't condem, what it is that you don't understand! No one is without flaw, sin, imperfection or confusion..."Pages From The Book of Life" doesn't attest to be an Areatha Franklin comparison, it just remains simple & plain....Days of my life that have gone by. I appreciate it & I love my voice--weather in the shower or on the mic...and not that it validates me, but a major company seemed to agree..............BLESS."

"Comparisons can be drawn to Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige and Hip-Hop's answer to Sade, but make no mistake about it, Joya is exactly who she is, JOYA. No other R&B artist in many years has covered themselves in hip hop gasoline and dove headfirst into the bonfire of the Blues, exploding into the artist known as Joya. Let the flames burn!! This CD has raised the bar for other artist. Her tracks are mellow, relaxing and stripped down so every instrument can be heard, unlike the mainstream cluttered, overdone tracks that we now have to put up with from a lot of top artists. Her voice is the main true instrument and every word is felt. When she says, "but my granny once told me...." you believe her, which make's this album unique because once you listen, you've now become a part of her life, love, laughter, pain and struggles. Every song will move you into some sort of emotion which will have you reflecting on your own life. I love the album so much I bought 2 CDs. This artist is about to do her thing. Get yours early so you can boast to your friends that you put them on to Joya. She has found the cipher, and the formula to combine the trilogy of Hip Hop, the Blues and Soul music. May this artist keep making music. Peace!!"
Music definetly needed this!

"This is incredible! I heard her first album and it is night and day. The mixture of Hip-Hop, Blues, and R&B is definely innovative. When I first put it on I imediately felt the same way I did when I heard Mary J. Blige first album, Eryka Badu first album, and Lauryn Hill's first album all in one. I's amazing!"

"Joya is one of the premier vocalist in the music industry today. This album is incredible.Joya's dynamic vocals and the production of Du Kelly is a much needed dose of originality and substance in a area of music that has become stale and boring.Joya and Du are a combination that's destined to be mentioned in the same breath as Ashford and Simpson,Ike and Tina, and numerous other greats of R-n-B.This is hip hop blues and NOBODY does it better than Joya."

"I heard the first album, and all i'll say is that i'm glad i didn't buy it. But this new album, is fantastic!!! I was able to listen to every song from beginning to end without skipping one song, which is big deal since I skip through a lot deadbeat songs on some of my favorite r&b and hip hop albums. And songs like "AUTUMN" (my favorite song of the year!!!), "Baby Can I Get Sometime", "Detroit Blues" and "Back in the Daze", left me impressed with Joya's heartfelt lyrics (better than Lauryn Hill) over hip hip beats, with the cool electric blue guitars only heard on Eric Clapton songs. Well, now Eric Clapton has a partner in the blues, and she's singing it with her own r&b style I'm sure will be heard on the radio, and copied by many. In the end, I'm thankful, I kept an open mind, because it was worth every penny."
