"A nice portrait of JOsef's creativity. The early creation Der Vorgeiger has somehow ressamblances of Lanner's music, but the symphonic skills of Josef can be clearly identified.
Tle Landler Waldblealm has so nice melodies that some of them has been used in the operetta Fruhllingshochzeit after Josef's Music. The fast polka Steeple chease stays along with her sister the waltz Fünf Keenbaladen (see vol 2) as some joyful creations by the composer. Almost as cheerful as this polka is the french-polka Die Buchstaben. With its melancholy it reminds us on our childhood or something like that. Maybe the composer has the picture of his young sister Karoline Anna in mind. The two quadrilles were nicely composed concerning the orchestration.
Sticking on with nice arrangements, the version of Song with Words captures the creativity of Mendelssohn's mind and gives up a tip about JOsef's skill to compose more serious music.
If you have time and money this CD will be definetly a nice purchase."
