"Just when I proclaim that Mr. Butler's CD, "Do You Love Me", is the best music can be, along comes "The Source." "The Source" is undoubtedly an unparalleled mastery of technique and profound insight. Mr. Butler has created a masterpiece of truth and radiance that places him among the greatest and most human artists of all times and all places."
BEST IN YEARS!

"ALTHOUGH J.B SEEMS TO BE MOVING AWAY FROM DOING AN INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM, I MUST ADMIT THAT THIS CD SUPRISED ME. CONTINUING IN THE VEIN OF "STORY OF LIFE", JB SOARS ON ALL THE VOCAL TRACKS, EXCEPT FOR "ANOTHER WAY", WHICH I DIDN'T LIKE AT ALL. THE BEST TRACKS ARE "THE SOURCE" , AND TRACKS 6 AND 7.THERE IS A CONSISTENCY ON THIS ALBUM WHICH I FOUND VERY APPEALING. THE TONE IS MELLOW AND SOOTHING THROUGHOUT, AND THE INSTRUMENTATION IS SPOT ON.BEING A BIG JB FAN (I OWN NO LESS THAN 15 OF HIS ALBUMS), I REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO HIM DOING AN INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE."
Too fantastic for words

"After buying Mr. Butler's last CD and being sorely dissappointed to say the least, I was a bit wary when I purchased "The Source" Thankfully, however, any doubts that I had about the cd were put to rest within the first 15 minutes of listening to the cd. All I can say is that the cd is jamming! This cd has been in heavy rotation along with my Rachelle Ferrell cd, and I don't plan on changing the rotation any time soon. My favorites include "Another Way" (which is the best track on the whole album in my opinion), "Shine a light" featuring the fantastic Rahsaan Patterson, and "Won't stop for nothing". If you purchase no other cd's this Christmas season, pick this one up!"
Awesome

"The only thing better than listening to a Jonathan Butler CD is catching him live in concert. The man can put on one hell of a show. He also puts out a load of great songs in his latest CD, The Source. This one ranks up there among his best. However his 1987 self titled release is still the one to beat. If you don't have that one your missing the greatest assortment of songs ever composed on one CD. Enjoy and Happy Hanukkah."
JB'S GREAT; NOT QUITE AS GREAT ON THE SOURCE

"I LOVE JB; I DESPERATELY WANT A LIVE CD! THIS ONE DISAPPOINTED; SEEMS ALMOST LIKE HE HAD TO TURN THIS OUT, GIVEN ITS CLOSENESS IN RELEASE AFTER STORY OF LIFE (A BETTER ALBUM). THOUGH HIS LYRICS (ESPECIALLY THE SPIRITUAL AND SOUTH AFRICAN REFERENCES) ARE ALWAYS GERMANE, HIS SOUND ON SOME OF THE SOURCE SIDES ARE TOO HIP-HOP, TO DUPLICATIVE OF SO MUCH THAT'S ALREADY OUT THERE.LOVE HIM NONETHELESS. ALSO LOVE THE FACT THAT THERE ARE ACTUALLY TEENS WHO DIG HIM AND HIS SOUND. THERE'S HOPE FOR THE WORLD YET!"
