"This is an album so good that it uttelry transcends any descriptive category. Jonatha Brooke has delivered a body of work that is equal parts haunting, beautiful, melodic, and powerful.
From the awesome, trippy strength of the title track, to the head-bouncing energy of "Keep the River on Your Right", the soaring harmonies of "Baby Wait", the taunting, eerie electric guitars in "Forgiven", to the acoustic loveliness of the closing track, "Never too Late," there's so much to absorb and discover on multiple listens. I find that on any given day my "favorite" song changes simply because I can't pick just one.
I can't understand why more people haven't heard of Jonatha Brooke. Based on the killer talent of this album, she should be picking up a ton of new fans soon!"

"She's no longer going to be my little secret. The rest of America (and the world) is now going to be familiar with my favorite female artist: The lovely, talented, and extremely hard-working Jonatha Brooke. She consistently amazes me.
When I first heard the title track last December, I knew that this album was going to be something different and exciting from J Bro. "Careful What You Wish For" busted through the speakers and made my house vibrate, and I liked it. The song has a BIG, full sound with a great melody and fun harmonies. You'll be at the store, and you'll start humming the song. Trust me. It will happen to you.
The rest of the CD is very solid. "Keep The River On Your Right" is another favorite. Darren Embry's grooving bass put a big smile on my face. My dog actually wanted to dance with me. "Forgiven" is a haunting semi-dissonant masterpiece. "Hearsay" is a rockin' catchy waltz (ok...it's 6/8 time). You'll be tapping your toes on this one. "Prodigal Daughter" is another favorite. I was hooked from the first two lines. "Never Too Late For Love" is simple, beautiful, and sweet. It's classic Jonatha: a solo acoustic guitar and a heavenly voice.
This CD rocks, but seeing Jonatha live is a love affair. When she comes to your town, definitely catch her show. Her live performances will turn you into a two-timer.

"It would seem from previous reviewers that you have either been a huge fan of Jonathas'since the days of the Story or you have never heard of the lady. Well I am in the former camp as I have all of her work and I rate this among her best. I do however notice a recent shift to more of an electric performance, as recently evinced by the Live in NY CD (not a bad thing)
The Cd kicks off with 3 great tracks and continues in that form utill the track in French........maybe I need to hear it more, and does not let up till the end.
A pure class CD and in these days of manufactured music such tallent in both songwriting and performance is indeed VERY rare
A must buy!!!!!!!!!!"
And here's the thing...This album is stunning.

"Great songwriting in the Elvis Costello/Aimee Mann school of wit and pop sophitication. The production is fun and stimulating. I would've thought Jon Brion was the producer of some of the tracks. If Aimee Mann's "Whatever" is one of your favorites, you must get this album. The title song is the stand-out track for me, one of those songs that will stand the test of time 50 years from now. "After The Tears" is another, the kind of song that comes along every 10 years.
I'm really enjoying this album."
Unbelievably good--Jonatha's best studio work ever

"I love all of Jonatha's stuff, but this record is without a doubt her best ever. It's nothing short of criminal that she isn't a huge star. Buy this record. You won't be sorry. And here's the best kept secret of all: as great as her studio work is, Jonatha live is an experience you will never forget. She doesn't need studio magic to sound good--she's the real deal."
