The Blues Explosion have gotten into a habit of following up their albums with B-side collections. Surprisingly, Xtra Acme USA doesn't sag under the weight of guest stars like dirty soul legend Andrew Williams or remixers like Moby and David Holmes. In fact, Williams's vocal turn on "Lap Dance" is hysterically dazzling and Holmes steals the whole show with his gospel-fueled remix of "Talk About the Blues" Unreleased tracks like "Wait a Minute" and "Leave Me Alone So I Can Rock Again" pack just as much punch--maybe even more--as the cuts that made it onto Acme. "Xtra Acme USA is far better than Acme itself; it's the Xplosion at it's most inventive, funky and brilliant. It's an amazing combination of all things Blues Explosion: funk, punk, blues, hip-hop beats and rock and roll."
The Blues is Number One...........................>>>PUNK

"As my new friend in Washington suggested ........ this puts ACME to shame. ACME is a nice album for the JSBX, which is not thier strength. I was relieved during my first listen to hear that these so called out-takes were some of the JSBX best work to date. I listen to ACME often - XTRA ACME has not left my CD player, except to its way to my car cd player. Nice work!! Get it Punk!!"
None better

"Support the blues in YOUR town! This record is stoopid-fresh, magnanimous in flavor, and simply one of the best discs I own. Most definitely the juice to get loose by. God bless Jon, Judah, and Russell. Amen."
The Blues Explosion gives us some hell.

"I didn't think that "Acme," the Blues Explosion album that "Xtra Acme USA" collects the outtakes from, was all that good. Judging from the album's sales, I don't think I was alone. The Blues Explosion is at their best when they're playing gleefully over-the-top, sleazy, tacky rock and roll; "Acme," unfortunately, didn't demonstrate that too well. The good news is, the Explosion was holding out on us -- these 19 "outtakes" put most of "Acme" to shame. If you've never bought a Blues Explosion album, be warned -- this band doesn't play blues. Instead, they play a very potent mix of punk, hip-hop, funk, soul, and Stones-ish rock and roll. There's definitely a blues influence -- you've got to dig for it, though. The sound here is a lot fuller than any previous Blues Explosion record, and their songs are becoming increasingly better written. If that wasn't enough, some of the lyrics Jon Spencer comes up with are hilarious. No household should be without this album. :)"
