Tops My 500 CDs!

"Of all the CDs I have, Jon Schmidt's To the Summit is my top favorite. The tracks range from serene (Prelude, Sacred Ground) to sublime (Game Day, Air of the F String). John is the most authentic musician I know, and it positively comes out in every note. His songs become a part of my life. They work as a soundtrack for sharing tender moments dating my wife, and in quiet reflections on the blessings of shared relationships.
I hear I Do, and reflect on my own marriage vows, and Sacred Ground serves as a repise of that covenant. I compliment Jon on all the songs--not a missed note. Every one of them deserves to live long in the catalogues of great works. Air on the F String is every bit as beautiful as Bach's G, from which the bass lane derives, and compares favorably with great interludes by other masters.
Even the Jon-isms, like the jazz trills at the end of Can't Help, are executed with wonderful flair and musicianship. I feel fortunate to live contemporary with Jon (not to mention hail from the same alma mater). His music will last into coming generations. Needless to mention, they don't dim with replay."

"One review cites this music as overly simplistic and analagous to suger water. As a pianist myself, this music inspires me to keep playing. It has beautiful melodies and the title track "To The Summit" keeps me coming back for more. This is new age contemporary music so it isn't meant to throw in every technical musical idea and style in the book. And besides, who doesn't like cool-aid?"

"Jon has a way of taking you places. It is simply a beautiful cd that creates images and pictures that sooth the soul and inspire the mind. Definately a must have. I love 'To The Summit', and Prelude is a masterpiece for those of us with daughters. Love the whole album."
