"What fun! I saw the Absolute Monster Gentlemen at the Santa Cruz Blues Festival and bought this CD on the spot. It captures what I heard and liked in the live performance perfectly, and adds a little more. New Orleans Funk is a good description, but I love how the latin piano sneaks in from time to time. "Agent OO Funk" is a rollicking funk number. Enjoy!"

"There isn't a finer live act around than Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen, and, on Pin Your Skin, the full magic has been caught on record. I can't imagine that 2004 will provide a funkier, deeper, and more utterly satisfying album."

"If you like the funk you should definetely buy this Cd. Jon Cleary an accomplished sideman for the greats like:Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Johnny Adams and even very recently John Scofield is a tremendous leader. His unique combination of New orleans funk and latinos influences are mixing well like a juicy Gumbo.
His band: the Monster Gentlemen are pushing up the groove like no one else (except maybe the Meters). Most of the songs on this CD are Jon's original tunes and I bet you you will not be able to stand seated while you listen to "Funky Munky Biznis" or "Aint Nuttin Nice". Some song like the great Doo Wop number "Best Aint Good Enuff" show up how good the voice of Jon can blend in such great song."
