"This CD figures as one of the truly great buys I've made. If you like high energy surf guitars you'll love it. Guitars, bass, and drums are all highlighted in their place throughout the disk. The combination of both familiar and original tunes is topped off with an excellent hidden track #15. Highly recommended!"
Surf: a war cry

"I first heard these fellows (in 1983--were you alive then?) in a live album which changed my guitar/life. I at that time heard a surf version of what I thought was correct on the frets: not so much Ventures as soundtrack; not so much Dick Dale as something that took the original concept beyond. Ah, here was the synthesis. "Moving Target" features these geniuses as they should be: released from constraints and slap-happy. The songs here include everything from, well, the Ventures to Dick Dale, but the stamp is original and telling--and boots strike the gluteal regions unlike they have ever done. A purchase for every rock and roll fan."
GREAT SURF SOUNDS

"A good mix of originals and covers from an extremely talented group. One wonders where their popularity rating would have been if they happened to be in the same era as the Ventures and the Shadows when instrumental music was at its' height in the early 60's.
"Thunder over Rincon" is an awesome track with "Moving Target" and "Molokai Cocktail" being surf instrumental delights. The covers are good but Jon Blair's originals are the best numbers on this package.
I agree with Stanley Runk's review that "Moving Target" is a great CD and also to get "Fiberglass Rocket" which is even better and is available at a more affordable price.
Hopefully they will bring out a new recording quite soon with mostly originals on it for us surf instrumental fans."
Life After Dick Dale

"Jon and The Nightriders are the real deal. For anyone interested in surf music, these guys are a must. Sure Dick Dale is great, but when you want to explore what else is out there, you probably think to yourself, "I wanna get into more surf music, but who's a really good band to get?" Well, naturally you have the classic groups of the 60s like The Challengers and The Ventures to choose from, but if you really want something to kick your ear on it's ass, check these guys out. They've been around since the late 70s, but they only have 3 cds you can find and they all come from the 90s. Moving Target is great, but it's not the easiest or cheapest one to find coz it's only available as an import most places. Get Fiberglass Rocket(which for some unknown reason isn't listed here) and tell me if that isn't about the best surf rock album you've heard. Check these guys out, you'll be happy."
