"OH MY GOD!!!!!! I love this woman! I think she is so creative, and awesome! I just got this cd in the mail (You won't find this in your local music store, and if you do, You are favored by the Gods!), and I am so envious that I wasn't given her genes! LOL, what I mean is, this woman is truly gifted, and she is herself!



Joi has for YEARS been underated and overlooked, and it hurts my feelings that she isn't over the top famous. Madonna was basically influenced by this woman's first album, The Pendullum Vibe, and took that inspiration to make Bedtime Stories. Her second album, Amoeba Cleansing Syndrome, never saw the light of day, and if you can gets your hands on a bootleg, treasure it! Her third album, Star Kitty's Revenge... I did not like, back when it dropped in 2003, but I came across it a year ago, and fell in love , all the while thinking "What the FREAK was I thinking not to have liked this?!?



And now we have 'Tennesse Slim Is The Bomb' ya heard?

Yeah, I did.

If you want something that will blow your mind, I mean something that is so unlike anything else that you will here in the radio, Get this CD!



I think I kinda understand why she isn't over the top famous, though. I don't think the average R&B listener will get her. She is a hybrid of Funk/R&B/Jazz/Soul, and she came waaaaayyy before Erykah, Jill, all them chicks (I love em all, but she is the originator of the so called neo- soul movement).



I don't like to purchase music from an artist without hearing samples (that's why I love Amazon.com), especially if it is an artist that I am unfamiliar with, so I will do you all a favor a post a link where you can hear samples of this woman's ART. When you're done (if you can break away) support this woman, this black woman, this independant artist, and buy her music! If you can see her live, OH MY GOD!!!!

"once again i think joi has been over-looked. the girl is funky & got pipes! as much as i liked star kitty's revenge, i must say i like this new cd more. if you enjoy a funky sista & are not scared to like more than what's on the radio or videos, than you should pick this one up!!!"

"this is by far the best r&b album to drop this year, almost every track on the album is flawless, even though the interludes can be a little too much at times the songs themselves are flawless, its hard to pick a favorite song, but if i were to pick one it would be "Dance With Yesterday", when i first heard this song i had to put it on repeat, it sounds like a prince track almost and the lyrics are amazing, i could see this being a single."
