CD Reviews

Thunders at his best
Juha T Palotie | 11/30/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Johnny Thunders is (was) the best "new york junkie" in the music scene. The all-dope music of Thunders and friends are the best music to listen to when you are trying to stop using dope. Did this with another CD of him, but also on this CD you can stay happy while feeling sick for not having any chinese rocks. Too much junkie business is al too true and "so alone" is straight from my heart.Jan"
The Best of JT -- Almost!
Juha T Palotie | Helsinki, -- Finland | 10/12/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This album comes as close as any one album I've ever seen (and I have seen quite a few...) to actually present the best Johnny Thunders, born Genzale, had to offer musically. While it lacks, for legal reasons perhaps, any material from Johnny's arguably finest solo hour, the epic punk classic So Alone, it still is a fine representation of mr. Thunders' career post-New York Dolls. While the 1st CD on this collection is just that, the 2nd one is more suitable for rabid fans of the deceased JT looking for yet more stuff from their anti-hero. It consists of a grab-bag of rarities, of larger historical than musical value. To best appreciate the art of the late, great Johnny Thunders, buy So Alone, then this album and to top it off, the New York Dolls collection Rock 'n' Roll. This motherlode of New York proto-punk and seriously heavy dope-fiend blues ought to dispell any doubt about this man's undeniable musical talent and effect on later generations of attitude-laden rockers in the world (see Guns 'n' Roses, Hanoi Rocks, Backyard Babies etc.).Very nice, but not perfect. Still highly recommended for the uninitiated!"
