"One of the greatest Ellington's solloists can hardly be adequatly presented on a single cd, and that's the main reason why I give only four stars to this collection of romantic but swinging music.

Could the choice of the great alto-sax player's tracks have been better?

Probably, but there are more than enough top class performances on this CD, so anyone interested in learning what Johnny Hodges was all about - in Ellington's band and in smaller groups - is well advised to purchase this edition."
