Johnny Crawford's "Rumors" Still a Winner After 45 Years

"This is the third album for this former Mouseketeer and co-star (Mark McCain) of The Rifleman. While Johnny's first two albums were excellent, it's my opinion that he reached a high point with Rumors. Other than one up-tempo song, the other ten are smooth, mellow ballads sung with a voice of youthful innocence, romanticism, and passion. Instrumental backing is pleasant to the ears with great vocals and harmonies. Johnny's voice is positively angelic and genuinely emotes the highs and lows of teenage love. As I recall, three songs were quite popular - the title song, "Rumors," "Devil or Angel" and "Lonesome Town" but every other song on this album is equally memorable. There isn't one bad track on this CD. I encourage prospective buyers to give a listen to the amazon sampler. I believe you'll agree this is quality music. And for Johnny Crawford fans and those who grew up in the 60s, a very pleasant journey down memory lane."

"Although I still have my Rumors album I had no record player to listen to my childhood idol. Imagine my surprise when I found I could once again hear that smooth voice of Johnny Crawford singing the songs I eagerly awaited to hear on the radio every day as an adoring preteen fan. As I listen to Rumors and all of the other songs it is just like being 11 all over again. Thank you for making this available. I even bought one for my best friend who shared a love for Johnny. We were sure he sang those songs just for us!"
