"Johnny Clarke the inevitable, the mysterious, and delightful voice of roots, roots, reggae music. Clarke's voice is enchanting, holy and mezmerizing on this lp. Offering pure sound for the soul. He manages to cover a couple of renditions and give them his own Johnny twist, i.e, Spear's "Ites Green & Gold" and Abyssinians "Declarations of Rights" which by far is one of the most sought after tunes of reggae. Johnny does them both supreme justice, while adding his own standout tracks, "Prophecy A Fulfill" "Them never love poor Marcus", "Natty Dread", "No Tribal War" all of which make this album marvelous. There are no dubs on here, but the music is tight as usual with the legendary Aggrovators and the master Bunny Lee on the controls. This is a nice look into the early career of Johnny Clarke."
A Crucial Early Reggae Album

"One of the crucial reggae albums of the seventies. Johnny Clarke's vocals are smooth as silk and the Aggrovators music keeps pumping steady on. Bunny Lee's production sounds a bit dated, but a careful remastering could fix that. More people should hear this album, in which Johnny Clarke said it so well in a mere 12 songs. It is certainly worth remembering for the great classic it once was. Few albums capture the early roots consciousness of reggae as "Rockers Time Now" did. This is the real thing."
