Pomus's compositions become malleable lumps of clay as Adams shapes them into jazz, blues, soul, R&B, and gospel creations. Adams slips into these timeless, deeply-personal-yet-universal songs as if they were tailor-made for him. "I first heard "Real Me" for about 12 seconds at the very end of the John Larroquette Show in 1994. I immediatly had to have that song to play when I married my wife. I was floored by the song's lyrics, the simple arrangement and the voice. This is a fantastic, soulful, CD that gets played often - and I own more than 10,000 CD's!My favorite will always be "Real Me"."

"I cannot believe the people who are now hooked on Johnny Adams after hearing this song on the John Larroquette Show. I had never watched this program before that night. When I heard the song "The Real Me" I was blown away. The next day I was at the music store looking for this CD and any others of his. I could not find it in any stores that day. Finally, I had a store order some of his CD's for me (this was before I was on AOL). I now own everthing I could find that he has recorded. When my friends heard him, they also could not believe we had never heard of him before. Everyone should have his entire collection."

"You can't have enough Johnny Adams' CDs in your collection. But even among all of his other fabulous recordings, this CD stands alone. I Underestimated You and Prisoner of Life are two of my favorites here. His delivery is effortless. The backing musicians are incredible. It's music to sing out loud to when no one is looking. It's music to wallow in, you'd almost *want* a broken heart so you could be in a funk with it listening to Johnny Adams sing Doc Pomus. If you're reading this and you don't have this CD, scrape up the $15 or whatever and get it. It's a pleasure you don't want to miss."

"This IS Adams, as well as it IS Doc Pomus. If you had to tell anyone who has never heard a single bit of Blues or Soul what it feels like, you'd take this album out of the shelf (if it ever happens to land there)"

"One of the smoothest voices around. This gutsy blues offering of great Doc Pomus tunes is in my all-time top 5 list. If you have never experienced Johnny Adams, start here!"
