"Another mainly acoustic offering by half of the best duo in music. This album, recorded in Nashville, has a decidedly rock-bluesy feel to it and an occasional steel guitar weaving which really makes me think John would make some dynamite country music. (Hey, if the Osmond Brothers did it)...
Best songs are "1000 Miles of Life" and "The Good Son". John also re-makes 1990's "Change of Season" from the title track of that Hall & Oates album."
John Oates - even better than expected

"I purchased the first solo album which I liked.
John has lived in Daryl's song writing shadow far too long. But not any longer!
In this second release his work is wonderful.
The songs are rich in meaning and strong in the melody.
I cannot pass this opportunity to say that John has endured the years better than Daryl.
In the 'Live at the Troubadoor' dvd I didnt like the obvious put down of John by Daryl in the performance. As professional performers their own feelings for each other should always be kept for the back stage area.
Nevertheless I would recommend this cd to anyone who has admired John over his outstanding career.

"Finally, a great solo album from John Oates. In this his sophomore attempt he has proven that he can sing with the best of the,and does on this album. Every song is a masterpiece. "Spinning Down" is my personal favorite. It hasn't been removed from my car CD player yet!! Give it a listen."

"As usual, any project undertaken by John Oates or Daryl Hall does not disappoint. Album is wonderful- easy to listen to again and again. Mellow sounds blend together yet cover a myriad of emotion.
Highly recommend as this is much different than John's last solo album.
