Album DescriptionJohn Mayall is the father of British blues. Throughout his six-decade career, he has been the UK?s premier white blues exponent. Fortunately, his creativity has not been confined to the UK, and for the last thirty years he has lived and worked in California. Mayall?s interest in the blues was nurtured at an early age, listening to his father?s jazz collection. Leadbelly, Albert Ammons, Pinetop Smith, and Eddie Lang were amongst his early influences, and from their music he taught himself to play piano, guitar, and harmonica. Here, Mayall has compiled an excellent selection of piano blues that is a reflection of his own musical journey. The works, presented in chronological order, are from a variety of artists, both famous and lesser-known.
