"I did not know of John Hicks until I heard one of his tunes on XM radio. I bought this CD and can't seem to stop playing it. Really fine trio that works so well together. Each tune has something special. Some tunes make you want to dance; others get you in "the mood". If you like jazz piano, you won't regret getting this one."

"John Hicks will be paid tribute for years to come, an under-recognized piano genius who just passed last fall; before he did, he paid tribute to another under-recognized keyboard genius-- Sonny Clark. Here, Hicks' trio brings to light some incredible Clark compositions. Hopefully, now these will get more play by jazz groups around the world. This is a well-balanced and tight trio and the entire outing is quite enjoyable."

"Where has John Hicks been all my life? As a devoted fan of Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck, and Oscar Peterson I am always looking for new jazz pianists. I stumbled across John Hicks quite by accident and since then I have purchased four of his CD's. The rap on him seems to be he was always a great sideman but rarely a leader or innovator. For me he is just so relaxed and casual, and yes, melodic. If you are into great jazz piano listening and you already have some of the three masters above try some John Hicks. I think this particular CD is one of his finest."
