A good pick for fans of post-1987 John Hiatt

"Two Bit Monsters is probably the most consistent -- and possibly the best -- of Hiatt's pre-1987 albums. Featuring production that's the simplest of the early albums, and the most genuine songwriting and vocals, it can easily be enjoyed by Hiatt fans whose primary experience has been with 1987's "Bring The Family" and beyond. Standout numbers include (but are not limited to) "I Spy (For the FBI)," "Pink Bedroom," "Cop Party," and "It Hasn't Happened Yet." Hard to get this one out of the CD player!"

"This one is about as rocky as JH ever got. For those who prefer the latter stuff I wouldn't go out of my way to get this one. But for the serious fan then this is still an exceptional album with all the JH style and witisism we know and love.
