"John Berry has always had the two things that make a great singer: outstanding vocal ability, and a heart full of soul. This greatest hits collection contains fine examples of both. Many people are familar with "Your Love Amazes Me," a sweet wedding-style ballad, that also has a deeper Christian context. But some of the real gems are lesser known. "If I Had Any Pride Left At All" shows off a set of lungs that could blow a lunar module to Mars, while busting open the listener's tear ducts at the same time. "You and Only You" throws you into an early 70's soul-country time warp, or what you would get if you morphed Charlie Rich with Marvin Gaye. Some of these hits are just light and fun, like "Kiss Me in the Car" and "She's Taken a Shine." "Change My Mind" is a display of his extraordinary vocal range. There is only one previously unreleased song on the album, Berry's collaboration with Wynonna, "We Can't Unmake Love" (it was on one of her albums, however.) It's the only song on this package that was supposed to be on "Better Than A Biscuit," Berry's 1998 album that never got released. In fact, the cover and other pictures in the CD booklet were supposed to be for "Biscuit." Overall, the album will appeal to both Berry's diehard fans, and to anyone who still values power, passion, and soul in a singer."
Well, it's the greatest but...

"I like John Berry's music very much. I bought the Greatest Hits and yes, every song is a big hit with me but..I wish there were more songs on the ablum. There are only 12 songs on the album and even if those 12 were his only greatest with Capitol records, maybe a few new songs thrown in would have been nice as the trend seems to be with GH albums but overall, what was put on the album, was a nice treat to us John Berry fans. The duet with Wynonna was a smart move!"

"I think that fans of this genre should definitely listen to John Berry. He's got an amazing voice, terrific lyrics, and real emotion in his songs. My absolute faves are "You and Only You" and "Your Love Amazes Me." He just comes across as VERY genuine to me. I don't know why he's not more popular- it's CRAZY to me! He blends old/new country w/ gospel sounds very well IMHO."
Much more than Your love amazes me

"John Berry has an excellent tenor voice which he uses to great effect on this collection of songs.John's debut single, A mind of her own, a classic song about men and women not understanding each other, was followed by Kiss me in the car, a fun song. John's next single, Your love amazes me, is the one he will be remembered for - unless he finds an even better song in the future. Tanya Tucker did a lovely cover of this song, only available (so far) on an out-of-print boxed set.Your love amazes me topped the country chart and was followed by a string of high charting hits, including What's in it for me?, Standing on the edge of goodbye (another number one), You and only you, I think about it all the time and She's taken a shine (his third number one). All these songs can be found here, together with We can't unmake love, a duet with Wynonna. There is plenty of variation in mood and tempo among these twelve tracks by this wonderful contemporary country singer."

"You will love this greatest hits compilation by John Berry. John's wonderful voice shines through again and again with each and every song he sings. I have never heard another artist that puts as much heart and soul into his work as John does. God has blessed him with a voice to share with us all and I feel that his music has been an inspiration in my life. Any album by him is well worth purchasing and listening to time and time again."
