Synopsis

Album Description
EverSound proudly presents John Adorney's fifth release, a highly anticipated benchmark to an extraordinary career with worldwide CD sales of over 300,000. * John Adorney showcases his skills as a composer and an outstanding performer on guitar, cello, and keyboards with The Fountain, featuring the rhythms and elements of Middle Eastern, pop, classical, and African music pulsing beneath unforgettable melodies. * The Fountain seamlessly follows his elegant and enchanting 2006 release, Trees of Gold, 2004's Waiting for the Moon, and The Other Shore, honored by the Coalition of New Age Retailers as the Best New Age CD of 2002. His debut CD, Beckoning, is EverSound's best-selling CD of all time. * As on all of his releases, Adorney's primarily instrumental compositions are complemented by the luscious, layered textures of female vocalist Daya, including the uplifting song "Even In Your Darkest Hour." The other song on the CD is the lovely "Comme Le Vent," on which Adorney collaborated with lyricist and African vocalist Marcel Adjibi. "John's musical ability is a beautiful marvel. His new CD, The Fountain, overflows with sparkling melodies and rhythms that only John can capture. I am enchanted." -- Diane Arkenstone "Multi-instrumentalist John Adorney is not just capable of playing several instruments but is also very capable of playing them well. The ability to perform competently on the guitar, keyboards, and cello, along with his knack for a melody, would suggest a long and prosperous musical lifeline for this rising star." -- Wind and Wire "[Adorney] has the wonderful ability to musically pave a road for travelers of the mind and get them safely to their destination. I don't know where John goes to find his music, but I can tell you that it is a place I want to go to. You will too." -- New Age Reporter

Smooth New Age Journey
Bryan S. Coffman | Orlando, FL United States | 10/08/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was sitting in a Borders bookstore on Pearl St. in Boulder, Colorado maybe 6 or 7 years ago(it's moved since to the new mall). At that time they would have live music on Saturday night and this particular night John Adorney came in to play. I'd never heard of him. He had been at a New Age Music conference in Denver where I believe he won an award. Anyway after a brief introduction he sat down at the keyboard and began playing. I was instantly transported by the sound, rhythm and chord progressions. I bought all the CD's of his that they had in the store at the time and have kept up ever since with each new issue. There's such a feeling of being on a journey in each one of his albums. The Fountain continues the magic. The opening track, Safe Haven sets the tone. It's a joyful, rolling, punctuated rhythm. You can't help but feel uplifted. The title track uses Middle Eastern themes but the sense of the journey is still there. Feather on the Wind is a bit more solemn, maybe reverential.

If you've never heard any of his music, I can recommend this album as a starter, or try The Other Shore.

I use his music often as background for my Anusara yoga practice. It's so natural to open up in the poses to the musical phrasing in his songs. There's a quiet yet vibrant energy to the music that is easy to reflect in the asanas."

"We like Mr. Adorney's music because of the number of instruments involved. It is very relaxing music while you are on a long trip, especially along I-80 in Nevada."
