"The Musical Heritage Society discs are simply marvelous. This particular recording of four famous Bach Concerti is quite simply perfection in so many respects.First, the tempi are very relaxed allowing for the full range of phrasing and dynamics to be expressed and heard;Second, the recording process done live in a non-studio setting allows for great natural mixing of the sound;Third,Stephen Taylor, oboist in the C Minor Concerto for Oboe and Violin has such rich timbre that puts many others to shame; and finally the Concerto for Three Violins (which is more famous in the transcribed version for three harpsichords in C) is so rarely performed that it is sheer joy to have it so expertly performed on this cd in the Key of D.These Concerti are extremely true to the Baroque tempi as performed by St.Luke's.A must have for serious Baroque/Bach afficionadi. This cd is very European in interpretation...not splashy and frenetic like American versions."
