CD ReviewsJoe Turner and Lee Allen Neil White, Jr. | Alexandria, La. | 03/17/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "This album showcases that great blues shouter, Joe Turner, along with that awesome tenor sax man of the 50's, Lee Allen. So much has been written and said about Joe Turner that I could add nothing to his greatness and lore.Lee Allen, on the other hand, has been heard again and again, but he is seldom credited for all of his wonderful contributions to r&b recordings. He blew the tenor solos on Long Tall Sally, Lucille, Feel So Good, Jam Up, Rockin at Cosmos and so many other New Orleans goodies from the 50's, but his name is never mentioned when you hear these songs.Lee Allen had been out of music for a while when someone located him working at an aircraft factory in California and recruited him to play with Joe Turner on this album. The sound quality on this album is superb. The rendition of Kansas City alone is worth the price of this CD."
