The very churchy real deal

"Brother Joe was more a dignified father figure than his label mate, the down and dirty shouter Sam Cook (think of a male Mahalia Jackson) and a huge influence on Soul-God, Solomon Burke. A huge, stenatorian house wrecker that performed acts of raw gospel strength that would have killed a lesser man.

To have him in a complete live show with lots of enticing ambiant crowd noise (and a surprisingly good live recording at that) is an astonishing treat for the few who still care for this old, get right with god style.

If you like other Specialty Gospel acts, or field-style live recordings, you should jump on this before it goes out of print, as these things tend to."
