Landmarks - is this as good as it gets?

"This album contains music with some of the most succesful mixes of composition and improvisation in recent years. You can see the list of musicians and that may sell it to you in itself but, if you have any doubts, THIS ALBUM IS GREATER THAN THE SUM OF IT'S PARTS. Each of these world class players rasies his game throughout this collection. Highlights are too many to mention but John Abercrombie's playing is a little more raw than usual and a very pleasant surprise, even if you love his ECM work. Kenny Werner is at his best here, using all 88 keys in a way which sets him apart from most contemporary 'post Bud Powell' pianists. And what about Big Joe? Listen to the sublime melodicism of 'Emperor Jones' and marvel at the subtle excellence and breadth of expression that is Joe Lovano."
