Product DescriptionAlbums made as recently as a decade ago suddenly seem important - moments never to be repeated..
Otis Grand had already made a series of absolutely superb collaborations for JSP, relinquishing centre stage and creating a body of work in the process that has rarely been equalled by anyone in this corner of the music scene.
Joe Louis Walker was Otis s old friend from their days in San Francisco. Joe had guested on Otis s projects, and they would always guest on each other s shows whenever they could. Could ever an album title have been more appropriate? This was their first joint album - two massive musical talents working together, pushing each other, working through the whole artistic tension process. The result could have been disastrous but the blood (almost) sweat and tears somehow resulted in a stunning set.
The album was cut in San Francisco with mainly Joe s then regular guys and finished off in London. Note the horns, Otis has long been renowned for knowing that swinging, horn led band style inside out.
Both these guys continue to do interesting and creative work and keep the music alive for new audiences with their touring. But this album is a musical highlight for both of them.
