"This 5 CD box set is quite a bargain, as well as a tremendous retrospect of Sutherland's recorded output. It includes hard to find selections from her Command Performance, French Romantic Aias, and Sutherland Sings Wagner albums. Among the highlights are "Ocean Thou Mighty Monster" from Oberon, "Stridono Lassiu" from I Pagliacci, and Senta's Ballad from The Flying Dutchman. Enjoy!"
Dame Joan - simply the best!!

"If you like Dame Joan Sutherland you will love this resume of her illustrious career. I have almost worn out "Semper libera" from Verdi's La Traviata - this rendition was worth the price of the CD on its own; it is fabulous - her upper register and her trills are faultless. The orchestration is magnificent on this track and her rendition is above superlatives!! Verdi would have been proud of her. He would have also been proud of the arias from Atilla, Ernani and Vespri Siciliani which are all fabulous on this cd - the ease of Joan's coloratura has to be heard to be believed. It was no wonder the operatic world gasped at her faultless soft-toned singing with its unrivalled upper register. Other highlights for me are Mozart's "Dove sono" and of course the Bellini pieces ( esp. Casta Diva ). There has never been a soprano to come anywhere near "La Stupenda" and never will be as far as I am concerned. Thank goodness her voice was captured on these priceless recordings. The only problem with listening to Dame Joan Sutherland is that you will never want to listen to anyone else! My advice is buy this cd and listen to the greatest soprano you will ever hear."
Wonderful but not the complete Command Performance

"Wonderful but to set matters straight the complete Command Performance 2 LP set is NOT on these 6 CDS ; it appears the entire 2nd LP is missing (songs by Arditi, Tosti, Bishop, Balfe and Wallace among others) and also the Pagliacci aria from LP 1 of the LP set is missing as well. The Command Performance set should be reissued.
"
God Bless Joan Sutherland!!!

"What a brilliant tour de force this is! I've always adored Sutherland in anything Handel (Her Alcina is unsurpassed) and this CD features some material only to make you YEARN for complete recordings of these operas with the great Dame. I for one have never heard a more beautiful "V'adoro pupille". A glowing, golden sound with a silvery glitter. Just brilliant! Another favourite of mine would be "Se pieta di me non senti" where Sutherland, who rarely ever truly moves me, had me in tears. To hear why Sutherland was a top notch Mozart-singer only listen to her Donna Anna or her Konstanze which is presented her. She'll dazzle you! It goes on, one hit follows the other with such rarities like Sutherland doing Wagner!!! Enjoy this great recital!!!!"
