"This album, when released in 1970, was phenomenal! All the tracks are great, but especially David's Song and One Day At A Time. Perfect Joan Baez!"

"i seem to have overlooked this item among others for some time. Joan Baez's musical interpretations have always been a favorite of mine -- since the time of my youth -- and she's one of the very few artists who's cover versions i can live with. this is release belongs to a selection of CDs i must have as a complete set. i'm glad this issue also features a few bonus tracks compared to the previous CD release. :-)

Joan takes Nashville...

"One of the albums Joan recorded in Nashville back in the late 1960s, it features many fine studio musicians such as Jerry Reed and Grady Martin, to name just two. "One Day at a Time" begins with a lovely ballad written by Baez for her husband David Harris who was serving time in a federal prison for draft resistance. The song, "Sweet Sir Galahad" marks the beginnings of Joan's writing her own songs as well as interpreting traditional and contemporary pieces by others. Further on the CD listeners will discover another Baez penned tribute to her husband, "David's Song." She demonstrates her eclectic musical tastes her by including a cover of the Jagger/Richard song "No Expectations" along with the traditional "Jolie Blonde." One of the best features of this CD is the voice of Jeffrey Shurtleff on five of the tracks, including two Merle Haggards songs released on the remastered CD.
The Nashville recordings offer not only Joan Baez and her splendid voice but the finest musicians to be found anywhere. This CD is one of the steps taken by Baez as she spread her wings beyond traditional folk music exhibiting for all listeners what a great talent she was becoming."
Just what I wanted.
