"B-3 master Jimmy McGriff is joined by Red Holloway (former tenor/alto player for Brother Jack McDuff) and David "Fathead" Newman (sax man for Ray Charles), plus funky drummer Bernard Purdie and soul-jazz journeyman Melvin Sparks on guitar.
There's a lot here for serious fans of the genre, but this is also a very accessible album for folks who are not hardcore jazz fans. The emphasis is on blues and gospel sounds and feeling over flash. This is one of Jimmy's finest, and one hopes that Holloway and Newman work together again --- they don't make tenor men like this anymore."
