"Fresh outta the esteemed Warp Records comes Jimmy Edgar, 22 year old beat conducta from Detroit. Jimmy flows to us four fresh club-style, [mostly] instrumental hip-hop flavors bouncing with energy, excitement, and sweet groove. The EP opens with the fatty "No Static" which busts its way right into your soul. 'Verbbed out rhodes sounds with these maaaad beats make you git right on wit it...The rap "loop" in this track gets a little much at times, but I like it, sayin: "Mutha****** no concentration, it's like rock the nation, you don't know whatchu facin, it's like all you ho-a** ni***** is chasin..."
The following three are tour de force grooves produced with fine attunement to clarity and soulful accents reminiscent of Dabrye, Prefuse73, a lil Quantic, etc, etc...you got it? This is well worth checking out if you're into fat grooves in any way."
R&B to the next level...

"Access Rhythm is a mindblowing display from the multi-tasking prodigious Jimmy Edgar, who is a merely 20 years old (and nearly pushed 18 years old at the time of making Access Rhythm!) In this 4 track EP you get a glimpse of Detroit inspired movements that set a mood far into the future in obscene ways, partly due to the more hiphop type tone. But, its not fair to call it hiphop, listening to it may explain why....silently screaming minimalism and the melodic funk of it will have you wondering whether you should be dancing like a gibbon or quietly trying to be cool. "Re: City Alley" is one of the most original sound pieces released in the last decade, taking you on a grey-skied trip down Cass Corridor! Clips from the upcoming "Bounce, Make, Model" EP (due out Halloween 04) further this artists intent on making you feel sexy and cool, by just listening to it?? This Dark Prince of the ghettos of Detroit, has many on grapplehold with such songs as "I wanna be your STD", and the seductively funky slow jam "LBLBDetroit" which rings like a derailed pop tune, up like David Lynch style. Stayed Tuned!! Must Have!!!"
