Album Description

This re-issue by the Australian solo artist features five bonus tracks that were only ever on the initial pressings of the album on its original release in 2000. After the massive success of Soul Deep in 1991, Jimmy wanted to follow-up with less of a pop, Motown side of soul album and more of a rootsier, Stax/Volt type of soul. Thus, Soul Deeper was born, with covers of 'Chain Of Fools', 'Respect', 'Dancing In The Street', 'Hold On I'm Comin' and more. Bonus tracks include 'Rip It Up', 'Hound Dog' and more. Liberation. 2005.

"Jimmy has done it again. Soul deep was a surprise for many but this cd confirms he can do it. Singing soul music in Jimmy barnes form. He doesn't try to imitate just sing how it comes naturally for him. Fantastic renditions of Hold On I'm Comin', What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted and Chain Of Fools. If you are lucky enough to get it with the bonus CD a great job he does of James Brown and Bob Marley. It is just possible that this exceeds Soul Deep except without the duets. I must have for Jimmy fans and those just interested in the music."
