"Love their powerful mix of rock and blues, their dark, personal songs resonate with me. Produced by Terry Manning ( ZZ Top, Lenny Kravitz, Stax Records, Johnny Winter), the energy and visceral rush of the band leap from the speakers. This is not your average blooze bar band set up in the studio "Let's do a shuffle in C" approach. They have great songs."
A mix of C.Patton,AC/DC and a little of The Ramones!

"Monkey Beat can stand shoulder to shoulder with any blues band North or South, but they're not afraid to rock! Jim Suhlers guitar can tell stories of Mississippi or getting laid on a saturday night! That's blues!"

"Back in'95, when I went to the CD release party for Shake, I saw the best blues trio I'd ever seen. This CD does not have a bad cut on it. If you like electric blues, you need this record in your changer, soon. It rocks!"
Good Effort By A Decent Band!

"Make no mistake about it, this is a rockin'/blues trio with the emphasis on rockin'. When I first heard this CD, I was amazed at how much sound these guys can put out. They rock from start to finish hardly pausing to take a breath. Rather than have a front man on the vocals, Suhler handles those duties in addition to some really good guitar work and shows that he can sing with the best of the new breed blues/rockers. Tightening up the band are Carlton Powell on bass and Paul Hollis on drums. A solid effort from a band on the rise."
Jim and Monkey Beat are the next flood from Texas

"If you like brilliant guitar playing along with a great bluesy voice then with a hint of screaming rock sound thrown in this is the album for you. My only criticism is it doesn't capture the energy of this band as they are live. I've seen Jim and his band perform on several occasions and I believe he is not to be missed. A NOTE OF INTEREST: Jim is also the rhythm guitarist for George Thorogood on his tours and can be seen on the Live in '99 DVD."
