"If you don't know Jim Pepper, I'm sorry, but you can fix that by buying this spectacular album. Jim was a tenor player with great imagination and the serious chops to express his unique ideas. He was the only American Indian jazz man that I can think of and his heritage colors each of his wonderful recordings with a very personal sound. I was actually looking for the older 'Pepper's Pow Wow' when I first found this baby and grabbed it. I listened to it 3 times in a row the first day! (not at all normal for me) I can't find enough great things to say about this album; it is one of my absolute favorites in my embarassingly huge jazz collection. Want something fresh and different? Here it is. I would strongly advise buying this, or any other Jim Pepper recording on sight as they are very hard to find outside of the Portland area where Jim lived for most of his life."
