It is the sound of worlds colliding: the visible and invisible, the legal and illegal, the sacred and the profane...with the characters that inhabit the songs sometimes finding themselves on the other side of the line. From the gentle sex-on-the-beach anthem "Phosphor", to "The River Brought Me Here", a tour-de-force tale of guitar-wielding outlaws facing life and death in the desert, Starlight Theatre stirs deep emotions and evokes the tenderest and harshest moments of human existence. Along the way we get ten other great tracks that run the gamut from raving rockers to mysterious ballads. Jim Lampos and his band prove themselves night after night in the dancehalls, roadhouses, theatres, gin mills, juke joints, and concert halls of America. They have traveled the equivalent of five times around the world, performing hundreds of shows for thousands of fans in the Mississippi Delta, the bayous of Louisiana, the West Texas desert--up in the listening rooms of the Green and White Mountains, at the mad revelries of the Outer Banks, and in the clubs of their hometown New York City. Each song on this collection comes out of that experience, and has been baptized by fire.
