A must listen.

"Something that is really unique and different from the Vienna Boys Choir. The arrangements, and accompaniments were excellent. Orginally the works were for a boys choir plus cantor, but was re-arranged for 4 part male choir and cantor. The cantos were excellent, and the Vienna Boys Choir sand at their best. Some of the soprano solos sounded a bit strained, but overall, I took a gamble when I purchased this, and I really enjoy this CD."
Refreshing and joyful

"The Vienna Boys' Choir singning Jewish songs? - yes - and how! The two works recorded here are modern compositions dating from the 1970s/80s; one settings of the Sabbath liturgy, the other of the Psalms; both originally commissioned for the Beth Abraham Youth Chorale, Ohio. Originally scored for three part treble choir the have here been rearranged in four parts to include the adult Chorus Viennensis (the alumni chorus of the boys' choir).

What it amounts to is a most enjoyable recording. The tunes are undoubtedly Jewish in influence, and the music itself is lively, joyous and very tuneful with catchy and often rhythmic melodies. The performances are excellent; the singing is relaxed and joyful, and the soloists and choir well balanced. In addition to the tenor solo parts there are some beautiful boy soprano solos. How refreshing it is to have the Vienna Boys' Choir singing readily accessible music which yet has an edge to it.
