"Jewels new album Sweet and Wild is another beautiful album from this one of a kind voice. I have been listening to Jewels music since 1995 when her first album Pieces of You was released. I have followed her on this amazing journey as I watch and listen to her grow as a artist. Now days Jewel is known as a country artist, but to me and many others (who followed her from the start) she is still Jewel with no labels like coutry, folk, or pop associated with her. Her music has always been more than just those labels. Her music crosses so many different styles its not fair to label her music. Sweet and Wild is a more personal album and is about love and happiness as Jewel herself says. The whole album is great, but the stand out tracks are Fading, What You Are, Satisfied, No More Heartaches, Bad As It Gets, and Stay Here Forever.
I highly recommend getting the deluxe edition Sweet and Wild [Deluxe Edition] [2 CD] of this album. It will please those early Jewel fans because it has a second CD (titled Sweet and Mild) which has the entire album in Acoustic just like old school Pieces of You Jewel. Both versions are beautiful, but the acoustic version gives a whole new life to the music. I highly suggest getting this amazing and beautiful album from this amazing artist known as Jewel."

"In preparing to listen to Jewel's latest cd, "Sweet And Wild", I went back and listened to all of her albums in sequence. I was surprised to find that albums I once thought were great, were now lacking, and albums that I used to not like, I liked more now.
I don't mind that Jewel has chosen to go into country music, "Sweet And Wild" being her second country album. She started out as a singer/songwriter folk singer, became slickly produced, then jumped genres to hip-hop/new wave flavored dance, and then back to slick pop to now, country. It feels right for Jewel to be making country music. She completely fits the current country music trends of not really being country, but being more like rock twang music.
While "Sweet And Wild" is pleasant, and maybe more upbeat and uptempo than her previous album, it still falls victim to the same problems of irritating singing at times, bland songwriting at other times, and several inspired moments at other times. There are a handful of just boring, unmemorable songs here like "Bad As It Gets", "Stay Here Forever", "No More Heartaches" and "One True Thing". When Jewel has nothing to say the songs suffer, and those songs are a perfect example.
On the other hand, "No Good In Goodbye" is a decent rocking opener. "I Love You Forever" is catchy, though Jewel's little girl nasal vocals can get irritating. "Fading" is lyrically stronger than its melody. "What You Are" might be the best song on the entire album. Good lyrics, good melody, memorable, catchy. Good. "Summer Home In Your Arms" is light and breezy. "Ten" is an accurate depiction of a relationship. "Satisfied", like "What You Are" is good lyrically and melodically.
So, overall, Jewel makes a decent country pop album with some very good songs, many decent songs, and a handful of forgettable tracks.
