Recognized by eminent Nyingma masters HH Dilgo Khyenste Rinpoche, HH Penor Rinpoche and Dzongang Rinpoche as an incarnate Bodhisattva, Jetsunma was the first western woman so recognized in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Her songs spark with the spontaneity and power of traditional Bodhisattva song: bridging the urban underground and deep spiritual truth.Totally Killing It brings real underground skills to this project. To the groundbreaking Guru Yoga CD w/HH Penor Rinpoche. Totally Killing It has laid it down real and deep and ahead of the curve since before you could walk much less dance.On this CD, Jetsunma's vocals, at times fierce, at times soulful, at times heart openingly emotive wrap around Totally Killing It beats that groove then fracture to broken patterns or minimal tribal house, or chill trip hop laced with primordially potent mantra. Tracks 6,7,8,14,15,17, & 18 were tracked in only two days at Totally Killing It's secret Williamsburg dub chamber with JDub hitting live MPC rhythms and Jetsunma dropping whole spontaneous verse and chorus structures. Stitched together and mixed just as fast, they retain raw live energy.Blinded by View crew with Jetsunma crafted tracks 1,3,4,5,9,10,11,12 over TKI beats at Blinded by View Studios, Poolesville MD, her lyrics and melodies fueled by the bell like power of Tara Middleton's bkg vocals. Thoroughly Modern Mantra

"I cannot say my review is COMPLETELY unbiased, as I am a student of Tibetan Buddhism at Jetsunma's Sedona, AZ center. That being said, I also consider myself a citizen of music. I love how beats, melodies and lyrics can transport a listener through a sensory experience. Lately, I have enjoyed discovering the fantastic production work on CDs by The Black Eyed Peas, Pink, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and Fall Out Boy.

Here is the difference though. In this release, Jetsunma has married the raw talent of several upcoming artists (Tara Middleton, Yeshe Dorje and Nate Waggoner - to name a few) , with the tried and true production and dub beats of "Totally Killing It" sound engineer John Ward. Add to that the sublime inclusion of her own voice as a throne holder within the Palyul Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, and her ability to create "catchy" hooks - then finish it off with her ability to dig to the depths of truth using Tibetan mantra which is "indestructible" speech according to the Buddhist teachings. Jetsunma has a raspy energetic voice that is best described as "melting butter" for the mind. It coats and flavors the entire work. Tara Middleton is like a vocal geyser that erupts all around her teacher's lead vocals, she fluctuates from operatic, soft and lilting, to a dynamo blending beautifully with Jetsunma's determined foreground sound. WOW. That is some different kind of music being made.

Fuse all this together and you truly do experience a Revolution of Compassion. Music you can enjoy while dancing, meditating, praying or even protesting. Lyrics with a message other than gang banging, racking up obscene amounts of money, or bedding random partners. Instead, Jetsunma offers the world the strength of loving kindness - with a kicking good beat behind it.

Even the track "Step Down" decrying the war and the current administration is a pure wrathful display of dakini energy (dakini being a term for a female wisdom being). Crying out for an end to acts of destruction is the flip side of the same coin that we use in silent meditation. Perfectly summed up in another track where Jetsunma proclaims "See the world of phenomena... understand what it means!"

As a student and a fan of Jetunma's music, I BEG her to keep it coming and keep that voice of hers speaking true, pure, long-overdue wisdom in this diverse industry that is music. May all who hear this music experience compassion to the core of their being - in the club, in the car, and anywhere their mp3 players can be heard!"
