"The Highlights from Jesus Christ Superstar Album is good for those who are new to the musical or who just like the songs. For the die hard fans, the original concept album is a better choice. Dave Willets is pretty good as Jesus. Issy Van Randwyck is exceptional as Mary Magdalene, one of the best Marys out of all the recordings. But the Judas, played by Clive Rowe, has a loud and distracting voice that might be annoying to some. If you really like Jesus Christ Superstar, that won't matter because the songs still have the same stunning effect they do on other albums. A good, but not great buy."

"Okay, some say this is not the best recording of JCS, But this is atrocious mainly because of one man. CLIVE (fu*king) ROWE!!!!!!! He is the worst singer, let alone Judas I have ever heard. He wouldn't have been good enough for EPAC, and they are a community theater. Okay first of all, the man has no sense of rhythm and no style. If I had to sum his singing up in one word it would be... "butchering"; for that is what he does to every piece on this soundtrack. Here's some advice: if anyone offers this cd for free... RUN!!!!"
Really a good recording

"Okay, this is not the very best Jesus Christ Superstar CD ever made. For the price, you shouldn't expect that. What this CD is is a very good rendition of twelve songs from the musical by a fantastic orchestra (the National Symphony Orchestra) and a host of more-than-qualified singers and actors. Dave Willets (Jesus) was cast in the early nineties British concert tour of JCS following the departure of Paul Nicholas, and for good reason. While he cannot (and thankfully doesn't attempt to, unlike a few other incompetants) reach the shrill high falsetto other performers have incorperated into the role, he makes it up tenfold by the emotion he puts into his performance, making his "Gethsemane" still a treasure to behold. Clive Rowe is a good Judas, though he doesn't rank among the very best. Issy Van Randwyck is a superb Mary Magdelene and the same is so for Ethan Freeman. Over all, there is not a bad performer in the house and so, if you want to introduce yourself or a friend to Jesus Christ Superstar or if you just want to add a new dish to your Superstar buffet, I highly reccomend this version."
