"My parents took me to see this show in NY in '1972 and I have been hooked ever since. 2 years ago I bought the 2 CD set and it brought back many fond memories. The words and music to this show are still incredibly powerful and clever -even now. Although I enjoy listening to this version, I still remember the voices and inflections of the cast members that I was lucky enough to enjoy back in '72 (I must have played that album a million times). Ted Neeley as Christ, Yvonne Elliman as Mary Magdalene and - yes Ben Vereen(!) as Judas. The three of them were absolutely amazing. Would love to be able to find this album if anyone out there has it."

What Rock Operas are Meant to be...Moving!

"First seeing the movie when I was ten, I didn't realize what I know and appreciate now: that the voices and music for JCS depict a time when people in our society were trying to look at life in different ways. We moved from hippees to Disco, we moved from "Non-White" to Multicultural. Thirty years ago, Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice helped to shape how we must live: to look at things in a different light, explore new avenues, embrace the joy and passion of a story.
This isn't the typical Passion story, it's seen through the eyes of Judas. Yet, isn't that what Weber and Rice wanted us to do, walk in someone else's shoes and see another side- to someoneelse's truth. He didn't say that, but the movie, music and lyrics move us to explore for ourselves."

"This is an amazing display of talent. A moving spectacle of a
classic story. Jesus Christ Superstar is what a good musical
should be. The spectrum of the singers' talent is on full display. I believe this is the most moving soundtrack one can
find anywhere."
Love it!
