The history of jazz music is enhanced by a host of gifted pianists but few, if any, communicated more personally, comfortably and enjoyably than Jess Stacy and - as that singular moment at Carnegie Hall in January 1938 proved - more excitingly at times. All of which is more incredulous when one learns Stacy had very little formal training and was, largely, self-taught. Obviously, a natural instinctive talent - a round peg in a round hole. This CD represents all of Jess Stacy's known recorded solos during 1950's. Includes nine of Stacy's own compositions.
