Dowling | St. Louis, MO, USA | 05/13/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "Since this is definitely second-tier Verdi (a rewrite of I LOMBARDI for the Paris Opera -- some will argue it was better left alone, more tuneful certainly), this fine recording gets only 4 stars. It's a radio broadcast in very good stereo sound, so the usual ODO chorus of kvetchers about poor sound can take a rest. The three principals all sing well enough (Ricciarelli, Carreras and Nimsgern) and do justice to the piece. If you're interested in 2nd-tier Verdi or completeness, grab a copy at ODO's low price -- you won't be disappointed."
