Just not that good

"Sorry but I just can't get into it even though I'm a big Jerry fan. I ordered it back when it was first released and listened to it a few times before putting it away. A year or so later I tried to get into it again - no luck. Most of the time I end up giving anything associated with Garcia 5 stars. Not this time. This is full of lack luster performances that never get off the ground. I really cannot even believe I'm giving it 3 stars. I just spot it 3 stars because you get to hear Jerry's guitar. And the cover art is almost insulting. It looks like some bad imitation of 60's art. I cannot believe Jerry would have been proud of this disaster. Buy something else from him."
Don't you ever go down on Broadway Street

"The idea for this Garcia release was to collect songs that hadn't already been released by this lineup on the two past live releases Jerry Garcia Band and How Sweet It Is but were standards in the Jerry Garcia Band set lists. Quite a few of these weren't even in the set lists during the time the other two releases were recorded. The major problem that I have with this, is not the versions but simply the fact that many Jerry Garcia Band songs didn't turn up that I would've hoped for. I've would 've perferred Bright Side Of The Street instead of yet another Money Honey. For example, this release covers 1989 to 1993 but there are no versions of Mission In The Rain, Reuben And Cherise, Love In the Afternoon and so on.
What is here is is pretty good to quite good, for the most part, in my humble opinion. The major problem is that this release feels like it's at least one disc short, if not two. Standouts are a flawless and moving Shining Star, Mississippi Moon, Russian Lullaby and The Maker and explosive versions of He Ain't Give You None, Let It Rock, Midnight Moonlight, and Let's Spend The Night Together. I Second That Emotion, When The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game, and Strugglin' Man are very good while the versions of Everybody Needs Somebody To Love and Positively 4th Street are a little below par compaired to some of the versions out there.
