Tight and Tasteful

"I pre-ordered this album after seeing Jenny with Todd Sickafoose's group a month or two ago in the East Village. When I ordered it, I didn't really know what to expect considering my complete lack of exposure to her skills as a composer or bandleader. Thankfully, she seems to excel at both. This album is tight, creative, and mature.

Of particular note is a somewhat different approach to incorporating strings into modern jazz when compared to other recent releases (Across the Crystal Sea, 10 Songs for Everyone). Her approach is very successful and the album is worth owning for this alone.

Aside from the wonderful ensemble work, the rhythm section has great chemistry, and Jenny really shines as a soloist."
