"Jenny Kavanaugh's solo debut is a very likable hybrid of country and folk, with a few tinges of bluegrass and rock thrown in for good measure. The CD consists solely of material composed by Jenny, her family and friends, so the songs are sung very close to her heart. From start to finish, the CD is a bit of a rollercoaster ride, which is a great thing! The songs are unpredictable and Jenny segues quite nicely from up-tempo numbers like "Something's Wrong" and "The River" to humorously delivered songs like "I Wish You'd Come Back Home" to her show-stoping ballad "I've Done My Time." The CD is by no means slickly produced; it rides on production values similar to Neko Case's "Furnace Room Lullaby." But the CD is consistent within itself and delivers a collection of songs not aimed at commercial success, but rather at artistic merit. And that's what Jenny achieves. I have played this CD for many of my friends and Jenny's voice has evoked comparisons to the voices of Shawn Colvin and Emmylou Harris, which I believe is high praise indeed! So check this CD out! It's a great start! And a great way to begin a love affair with Jenny's sweet, sweet voice!"
