Yet like much of the album, the song lacks the kind of muscle to sustain much interest. Hanson, who coproduced this debut and cowrote all but two songs, does best when she has a story to tell--instead of just musing on the variations of love. "Travis," which finds the singer wondering about the fate of a childhood friend routinely beaten by his father, carries the ring of truth. And "Half a Heart Tattoo," an infectious boogie about a telltale mark and the tracing of a cad, can't help but raise a smile, even if the plot twist becomes patently obvious. "Don't be fooled by the three stars--I'm just picky with my music.
I picked up this CD in the store on just a whim. I was familiar with "Beautiful Goodbyes", but I can't say I especially liked the song. However, there is more to this CD than just that single. The standout tracks, in my opinion, are the upbeat "Travis" and "One Little Word", as well as the slower ballads "Baby, I Was Wrong" and "Simply Yours". In fact, the beginning arrangement on "Simply Yours" sounds a lot like the opening to Jann Arden's version of "You Don't Know Me", so if you liked that song or those types of ballads, I'm pretty sure you'll find something to like on this CD.
Bottom Line: If you have some cash to blow or just feel like listening to something new, this release is worth your while."
Great Debut

"I bought this CD the second day it was out and have been enjoying it ever since. My favorite songs are This Far Gone and All Those Yesterdays, but there's really no song I don't care for. I'm also impressed with Jennifer Hanson as a true artist. She co-wrote 9 of 11 tracks as well as co-produced the CD. Unbelievable artistic freedom for a debut! I feel she came through in a big way and shows the faith her label has in her is well founded."

"Yes, this cd is "radio friendly," but don't dismiss it because it's easy to enjoy the first time around. "Beautiful Goodbye" is a catchy lead off single, and I'm sure anyone who enjoys it will find at least several other songs to put on their latest mix tape. I'm one person who's looking forward to more great tunes from Ms. Hanson in the years to come."
