"Sadly Jem and Ariane are no longer a duo. As it is their last recording together this adds to the value of this recording. Poignant, well-performed and insightful many of the arrangements remind one of why the certain folk tunes are so very enduring. The original musical content speaks over the generations and still invites experimentation and new interpretations. They have done justice to some old favorites and added new material to the dynamic body of folk material.Jem's hammered dulcimer playing is first rate and energetic. Ariane's guitar and voice are amazing and aurally seductive. This recording is, in my view, an essential purchase in any discography of contemporary acoustical folk music.I would also recommend locating copies of "April Fools Waltz", "Along Quiet Lines" and "Passages" as other fine cds by Jem and Ariane. And Ariane's first solo CD, "Lady of the Green" is very special. Its material is touching and new. Her voice is beautiful, sad, haunting and inspirational."
