(5 out of 5 stars)
"This CD contains all the solos recorded by Jelly Roll Morton, the great Creole jazz pianist and self-proclaimed inventor of jazz, between 1923 and 1926. The '23 and '24 solos were recorded with very early equipment, so don't cringe at the quality - for this time period of recording, I believe that the restoration on these recordigs is absoultely wonderful, especially on the last four tracks, recorded after electric recording was developed. This recording is a must for those interested in Jelly's piano work, as these sides, his first, show his early style, very ragtime-based byt quite interesting."
