"Jeffrey Gaines' first album is his best -- he retains his simple, "rough" sound. Without excessive instrumentation and production, this album is truly soulful and deep, yet not depressing. I only wish he would "hit it big"...he truly deserves recognition, but I'm afraid it won't come because he doesn't seem the type to sell out to get it...and there just aren't enough people out there looking for truly talented musicians such as him."
Jeffrey is a wonderful singer/songwriter

"I have been seeing Jeffrey Gaines perform for about 10 years now. I've got all three CD's. The first time I saw Jeff I was blown away by the lyrics of his song. He is one of the best writers I've come across. His songs are real and deep. I highly recommend all three CDs and a live show by this guy--hurry do it now before he makes it to the big time cause I think he's gonna do it with this record."
"jeffrey gaines is on the verge of greatness and would be in the mainstream of pop culture if he wrote "bubble-gum" lyrics. his music portrays "Beatle-like" simplicity, yet is well-versed and versatile enough to fit the mood. he can be quietly acoustic, but he can also pick-up the beat a little and motivate you to drive faster than the limit. his guitar playing is crisp and timely, and his voice is smooth and versatile... the best thing about gaines' music though is the meaning and emotion he puts into every song and every lyric. his songs especially have bold undertones to the consciousness of men, who, in general, are afraid to express the things gaines' songs open us up to...most of the songs, on his debut c.d., are about fear, failure, and insecurity, and "most men" aren't comfortable with admitting they have such feelings...but he's balanced with the "hero in me" that we all possess as the master of our lives. gaines' music seems to be geared for men who live meaningful inner lives, and it could be very useful for women who want to have a better understanding of the psyches of men (if that's possible); plus to top it off, it's very enjoyable to listen to...some of the songs are danceable, some are good to drive to, and all are good singing tunes...and the lyrics have enough depth, that as you listen to them over time, the meanings seem to grow or change."

"Jeff Gaines is one of the most talented songwriters of our time. His songs are written in a way that no one can listen through a entire CD a not be touched by his music in a unique way. His debut self titled record is a perfect example of this. Drawing from personal experience, he is able to write music that is truly pensive and inspiring for all who listen. These qualities can be seen throughout the record from the beautifly written Hero in Me to the contemplative Headmasters of Mine."
